thanks to a recommendation on this list from Keith Butcher, I purchased the
Corsair 32,Gb Flash Voyager USB 2.0 Flash Drive from amazon.com.
Amazon is selling this flash drive for $119. This may seem expensive,
compared to some of the portable usb hard drives on the market which have more
storage, but I was happy to pay a little more for a product which I knew would
work with my Braille plus. The drive is small enough to fit in your pocket but
comes with a nice long lanyard to keep track of it. It has an usb port on one
end along with an extension usb cable. Although my braille plus has a 40 gig
drive, while this portable drive has only 32 gb of storage, it will work fine
for me, since I don't need to back up all my files on the braille plus, such as
mp 3 files. In doing my research to find this drive, I thought of a
suggestion that would help icon and braille plus users. Just as pacmate users
have done, what about creating a site or even a page on Levelstar's web site
that would contain recommendations from users on peripherals, such as usb and
blue keyboards, usb flash and portable disk drives, etc. that work well with
the icon family of products. Although the icon is very new, and these products
are changing all the time, keeping an up-to-date list would help users to find
a peripheral which they know would work.
In closing, I would recommend this corsair drive to anyone looking for an easy
way to back up their icon.
