Actually,
I was having that same problem, but a simple re-start using the pound, star
key and the program 1 key cleared it up. Now the quick record button works
as it should.

braille plus users

Hi Kimberly:
There hasn't been that problem, as far as I know. Unfortunately, you might
have to reflash (restore your unit to the way it was when you got it).
Before you do this, you will want to do one of two things, or do both:
1. Synchronize your unit with the PC, assuming you have the sync program.
To do this:
a. Turn your Braille Plus on.
b. Attach the interface cable to the bottom of the unit.
c. Plug the USB cable into it, and plug the other end into the PC.
d. Type 63 to get to disk drive mode.
e. Disk drive mode will launch.
f. Open the sync program on the PC, and check all 3 check boxes.
g. Press the sync start button.
e. Wait until you hear the synchronize start button message, and then press
ALT+f4 to close the window.
f. Press cancel to exit disk drive mode.
g. Disconnect the cable.
or:
2. Create a backup, which backups the following information:
Address book contacts.
Music player play lists, but not the actual files.
The information about what periodicals you are subscribed to.
Your bookshare.org username and password.
Browser settings.
e-mail accounts
e-mail messages
e-mail settings
RSS reader preferences
RSS feeds that you are subscribed to
Note: articles and podcasts themselves aren't backed up.
All of your network manager profiles.
Planner appointments.
Recording settings, but not the recordings themselves
General entries
All settings
The list of blue tooth devices
To make a backup:
a. Press 67 from the applications menu to get to the backup utility.
b. Press select when it says, "backup application data, press select to
change.".
c. Press select on description.
d. Type in a description.
e. Press okay.
f. Once the backup is made, close the backup program by pressing cancel.

Now, you will want to reflash. You can reflash your Braille Plus, but this
does not work for Icons, by following the following steps:
1. Hold cancel to turn off the unit, if it isn't already off.
2. Take off the battery cover.
3. Hold down the star key for a few seconds.
4. Keep star held down, but press and hold reset.
5. After reset has been held down for 5 seconds, let go of it.
6. Keep star held down until you feel the third vibration.
7. As soon as you let go of star, press down arrow twice very quickly to
avoid system lockup.
Note:
The only key that works is down arrow and down arrow has to be pressed
twice.
8. Wait about 5 minutes, and the unit will come up talking.
If it doesn't, press the reset button quickly.
9. Type 67 from the applications menu.
10. Choose the backup with the date on it that you created. So, if you
created it today, it would say Saturday, April 19, and then the time in
either 12 or 24 hour format.
11. Choose restore this backup from the menu that pops up.
12. Press okay or 4-6 chord when you are asked if you are sure.
13. In about 2 seconds, you will hear backup restored, and you will be good
to go.
14. You should probably put the unit back in disk drive mode and resync, so
you can get the music back.
Next, update to 1.1.1. You need to run 1.1.1 to get your unit registered,
and In order to have technical support. Also, I think you would really
enjoy many of the new features.
Let me know if something goes wrong.

Subject: [icon-discuss] quick voice recorder not working for several
braille plus users

it has come to my attention that i am one of several users of this listserv
for whom the braille plus quick record function does not work. it worked for
me one time--the first week i had the unit--and has not functioned since
that time. the problem is not the #1.1 update, as i am running version
#1.06. any suggestions as to how to resolve this problem short of sending a
brand new unit in for repair, which i am not willing to do at this point?
