OK Paul, you are right and it is a bug; at least in my opinion. APH Staff, please take a look at this. Paul's instructions are quite easy to duplicate this. If we type something into a field in computer braille; it should stay in computer braille and when you move character by character it should read in computer braille. Paul, one work around which isn't the best, is to do what I suggested might work in the first place. When you know you need to go look up that key; or anything else that was entered in computer braille; go to utilities, settings, general settings and temporarily tuchange your input method to computer braille. Then, go to the address book and what you entered reads correctly in computer braille. Again for APH staff, when printing becomes an option; this could be a huge mess. If I enter something in computer braille and it gets translated to grade 2; when it prints out it isn't going to be anything like I want it. That is my two cents on this one. Good catch Paul. Okay. I understand. Let's see if I can provide enough detail so we can figure out what is going on here. I was editing an entry in the address book which I had already in the list. It is for a company called cd3o. It's a streaming media player which causes your stereo to talk so you can select music by genre, artist, album or track. I wanted to put the new wep key in for my new router. I already had a wep key in the comments field for my older router. I went to the comments field and removed everything. I then pressed control L to turn on computer braille. I then typed in SSID: and my SSID. I pressed space then typed in wep key: and a space and the long 128 bit key containing capital letters and numbers. I was hoping I could have these on separate lines, but I haven't figured that out yet. It looked great when I finished and read just like I would expect. I pressed okay. Now, when I went back to look at that entry just to see how it looked, everything in the key was in grade II braille. The numbers had the number sign which translated by the reader as ble. Each capital letter had a dot six and if there were two letters in a row, two dot sixes. I am puzzled by this because I did it more than once just to make sure and had made sure I pressed control L to turn computer braille on. I guess that since my preferred reading method is grade two that it translates it accordingly. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Richard Turner Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 6:05 PM To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: problem with the address bok Hi Paul, Yes, but I was really suggesting just to change it to see if it read correctly, then changing back. However, I just tried a test. I have my input set to grade 2. I added a new address with the last name Key. I put a key in the comments field after hitting control+l to turn off braille. When I was done, I hit OK. When I viewed the record, the key read in computer braille as it should. I then tried the same thing in another field; and it read just fine too. I put f dot 1 r, in the middle name field with "braille off" which should have read as "fear" if it translated it; but it didn't. It read as f1r. So, perhaps you could try again; or give some very detailed steps; which I may have missed the first time around, to duplicate what you did exactly. Especially when I typed it in in computer braille in the first place. It's like when it reads back, even though you typed it in in computer braille, it translates it into grade two. One would think it would just leave that field as computer braille. -----Original Message----- From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Richard Turner Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 3:56 PM To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: problem with the address bok Hi Paul, I should have said input method, since it treats both input and reading the same way, but yes, it will make a difference in other places, but try changing it and see what that key looks like afterward. From the main menu, pick 6, utilities and then 1 settings, and 1 again for general settings. I think it is the fourth item down you can have your input mode as grade 2 or computer braille. Left arrow to computer braille and hit OK. I'm guessing the key will read correctly then, but it is only a guess.
