Owning an Icon since 2006, I had to send my unit in for repair only once. I had quick turn around. There was a time when Levelstar and APH had an extremely difficult time obtaining parts for the machines. At that time, they admittedly had a very difficult time turning machines around in time. I have to admit that I have been extreemly luck to have had mine for quite awhile and it still works well. Yes, I have had the occasional lockup problem, had to replace the battery once, and started out with a problem with the keyboard that Fred was able to fix. I sincerely hope that Orion will be a much better product, but I guess I will reserve any further comment until I see it, get a chance to try it out, and see that it is deserving of a better rating than what could be given to the Icon and Braille Plus. ----- Original Message ----- From: "lou smith" <lousmith07@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <david-tanner@xxxxxxxxxxxx>; <hillco@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; "Icon List" <icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, July 03, 2011 5:31 AM Subject: [icon Discussions] Re: orion I issued one to a teacher who honestly was too busy to make use of it the way I had hoped. Part of me is glad that she probably won't use it very much for the potential down-time of the device. My personal one has keys that don't always react as they should, but some of that may be the operator in that I'm a fast brailler.
