Sharon,

I didn't think resetting the unit would erase files. Then again, I haven't done much with quick recordings.

Well, they are, but sometimes it takes me a couple days to write down what I
need from quick recordings, and in that length of time, they get erased
because of resets.

Richard,

I wouldn't bother for anything except a recording that was *really*
important. Besides, as far as I'm concerned, quick recordings are
transitory.

Aye, there's the rub.
Have you moved a recording from the flash drive to the hard drive?
Finding that buried folder takes more steps than it is worth.
From the main menu, I just hit 5, 3 and enter, which starts the recording in
only a few
moments later than using the button, but like other machines with a record
button on them, I
know people who have accidently started it recording and not realized it.
That can eat up flash drive space rather quickly.

There I go again, pounding on that dead horse.
Oh well.

Richard,

If I had a quick recording I really wanted to keep, I'd just move it to

therefore
not worth occupying hard drive space.

Can that be changed?
The documentation for a few versions back states that The quick record
button goes to the hard
drive, which would be ideal. I gather that obviously never made it into
a
release.
I think just about everyone would prefer that it directed recordings to
the
hard drive, recordings
folder.

Richard, who seems to like beating on dead horses.

Mike,

What about the quick recordings you make by pressing the button on the
side
of the unit? Aren't they always stored on the flash disk?

I can tell you one thing, you may want to place recordings on the hard
drive, not the flash disk. For one thing, there's more room on the HD
and
the system software is primarily stored on the flash drive, so there's
a
greater chance of things being erased during an update.

When in the recorder, when the unit says "recordings in flash" hit a
left-arrow and that should bring you to the hard drive. Unit should
say
"records on the hard drive." Now, record something and this will set
your
unit to always use the hard drive unless you change it again.

Hope this helps, and no, I'm not sure if you can get the recordings
made to
the flash back.

Hi, everyone: after doing the upgrade, and after backing up and
restoring my
data, I discovered that all of my recordings on the flash card had
disappeared. They don't appear in the recordings folder. I didn't do any
reflash. My contacts and other items are still there. Any ideas what
might
have happened, and if there is a way of recovering them? Thanks.
