Larry,

Questions related to timing in between your steps 6 and 7. How long did it
take for the Bookshelf program to tell you that the bookshelf was updated?
What happens if you repeat the update bookshelf procedure? With 100 some
odd books, if should take quite a long time to update the bookshelf.

Subject: [icon-discuss] bookshelf updater problems

I did the following:

1. deleted the books folder and all its subsidiaries from the hard drive.

2. created a new books folder and its subsidiary import folder.

3. plugged in my USB stick with 109 bookshare books and 50 authors into the
icon.

4. exited the dialog and opened bookshelf with 31

5. invoked the copy books to library menu item and pointed the dialog to
the stick.

6. invoked the update book catalog from the menu.

7. examined my bookshelf and found that I still had no books save the icon
user's manual

8. closed bookshelf and opened file explorer and examined my library
folder. All of the books on the card were there arranged beautifully in
their respective author/books folders.

9. repeated steps 1 and two.

10. opened the internet bookshelf search program and downloaded some of the
same books that I had tried to put on the bookshelf from the USB stick.

11. the bookshelf updated beautifully with the books properly displayed
under their respective authors.

I will attempt the same experiment using NLS books and see what happens. I
believe their is indeed a problem with the library/bookshelf database
updater.
