nbc news is not put through compression in the same way that an nls book is.
we are dealing with an hard drive here folk, I don't know if it would make a
difference, but you might try a book on the mini sd card and see if that
makes a difference but even then, it may be buffered through the hd.

Hi, I find that at 200 percent and above the speech gets very choppy. I am
reading the January issue of Discover magazine from NLS. Interestingly the
effect is not as noticable when speeding up the NBC Nightly News.

Also as a strange item, even though I downloaded the update through the
Updater, version 1.1.1 still shows as Not Marked for Download.

I am thrilled to be able to read NLS books on my Icon. I received
my authorization from Levelstar and downloaded the key. I have
successfully
downloaded my first NLS book, and after moving it to the correct folder,
it
was unpacked when I opened my bookshelf. However, I must tell you that
speeding up a book even a little degrades the audio quality substantially.
You hear an effect that makes one believe that the narrator is underwater.
For anyone who has a Victor Reader Stream, you will notice a big
difference,
and unfortunately, it is not good. I don't know if Levelstar can address
this garbled sound in a future release, but I hope perhaps they can. When
I
speed up a book on the Victor Reader Stream, it is seamless.
