Don't take one person's gripes as gospel.  Try the unit out for yourself.
You will have no ability to take notes on the Icon without an external
keyboard unless you are tremendously fast with text messaging; which is the
only type of direct input you can do on the Icon; and that is seriously
louder than the braille keys ever thought of being.  Or, you can use a
bluetooth keyboard or a USB keyboard; which means an extra piece of
equipment to carry around, etc.
Or, you wait for the docking station and see if that is any quieter.  I
doubt that it will be.
 
I think this level of straining at gnats is bordering on the ridiculous.
The keys are no louder than other units.  But, you won't know until you get
your hands on a unit and try it for yourself.

IF it's that bad, maybe I should look closer at the Icon then...what do you
think? Are the rubber keys also bad?
