Paul:
Icon/Braille Plus run USB 1.1. 1.0 is incredibly slow! That would be
windows NT.

Hi, David. I am not a vista authority by any means either<grin> But from
what I can figure out, if I connect my cell phone or a PDA, I have to launch
to mobile device center where I can upgrade the firmware of the device or
synchronize my contacts or planner, etc.
I know I don't have to use the mobile device center with my braille note.
But, of course, they have their own sync program just like the icon does.
Regarding transfer speeds, if I connect using USB, transfers are really
slow. As I understand it, the icon only uses USB 1.0 and not 2.0.
When I connect wirelessly, my transfers are much faster.
Hope this helps.

Paul,

You have a long explanation below the end of which puzzles me:
"> I do have something from the pc side, at least, for now, and transferring
> at
> 375 to 400 kbps is sure better than by USB at 7 kbps."

Can you ellaborate? I do believe this is a communication issue but not
necessarily entirely an Icon/Braille+ issue, since Macs and pcs are being
networked. If it is an ICon/Braille+ issue, it is unit specific. I have
heard that vista has some problems with pdas. I had suggested because I
have seen it in some documentation for pdas for vista that turning on the
mobile center may help but then all youwant to do is network the device and
not sync it so that might not apply. I have noo direct experience with
vista, but it wouldn't hurt to have a dialog with Microsoft on this and see
if they have any suggestions toward a solution.

I think I did see someone successfully using ista with an Icon/braille+.

I hope you read this and find it useful. In any case, please explain the
above quoted statement to us?

Thanks!
