Hi, Chase. But you wouldn't be dealing with a firewall from your ISP if you
wanted to transfer just from your icon to your pc or vice versa.
Your router would most certainly have a firewall, though.

You also could have triple firewalls, because a lot of ISPs have firewalls
running.

Yes, we need to be familiar with how things work, and I hope, between APH
and LevelStar, between those of us who use Vista, and XP, that someone can
find some answers for everyone. And yes, we did know that this would be
complicated, and that we would need to do a lot to support it. We have no
problem with that. I have been out of town the last couple of days, so am
jus getting to all this email. Yes, I probably should send a few file
sharing hints to the list, as I think there are some things that can be of
value. But, we won't document it. The reason we won't is that it would
take an entire manual by itself. And where do we stop? There are 3
versions of XP, 5 versions of vista, and what about Mac users, and Linux
users? Everything that can be documented on the Icon/Braille + side of it
is documented, and there is also plenty of documentation about how to set
things up for each operating system on the various websites for those OS's,
but the rest, unfortunately, can be so individual to your specific system,
there's no way we could ever cover it all. By the way, have you looked at
the Braille Note's documentation on Networking? If you've set it up, you
must have. What do you see in there about vista, XP, or anything else for
that matter?

If we documented Microsoft, we'd appear to favor Microsoft, but eeven taking
on the task of covering all those OS's is an impossible one. So, we'll give
you as much help as we can on list and through tech support, but that's all
we can do. I do apologize that Michael and I implied that Vista was not
tested. No one at LevelStar has a Vista machine, but obviously, those at
APH do, and did test it.

As for it being as easy as it appears, it has been for some people, and if
all goes well, it should go as I demoed it. but I actually had my own share
of problemms setting things up, but they aren't necessarily the same ones
others are having. All we can do is try things, and if that doesn't work,
try something else. That sounds very unorganized, and not very
knowledgeable, but I did my own bit of research on Microsoft.com with my own
troubles, and I discovered that there is such a wide range of issues that
can get in the way that, it's really all I know to say. I hope that someone
is abel to help you get things resolved soon. Only one more thing I can
think to ask as far as my own knowledge goes. Do you have more than 1
firewall running? Sometimes if you're running both Norton and Windows
Firewalls, or any multiple firewalls that can cause a problem. If worse
comes to worse, you may need to edit your registry to allow for annonymous
log ons, but if that were the case, I wouldn't think your other machines
could gain access.

Anyhow, we'll keep working on it.
Jenny
