Who knows. . . I have a 60GB notebook drive that I mounted myself into a 
Vantek enclosure. . . it does not work with ICON. . . but not only it has 
no  external power supply, but is formatted to NTFS too boot!  G.

So would this mean that a Passport 160 GB might work and a 250 GB
might not because of a higher power requirement to run the larger
drive?

Many USB drives aren't specifically USB spec compliant and require
an
external power supply.  I expect that may be the case if the drive
starts
and stops.

USB says that a device can only expect a certain amount of power if
it is
connected to one port.  Many USB hubs, including those inside
laptops, have
multiple ports, and make the total power for all the ports
accessible to a
single device like a CD ROM drive or hard drive.
