To IBIS Open Forum Members,
SAE International, the parent organization of the IBIS Open Forum, holds
the rights to standards produced by the Open Forum. SAE policy requires
the status of each standard to be reviewed every five years. The standard
EIASTD656B, "I/O Buffer Information Specification (IBIS) Version 4.2"
(http://standards.sae.org/eiastd656b/) is currently due for a status
review. While we have produced more recent IBIS specification versions,
IBIS 4.2 remains our most recent formal standard. Our status review
options are described at

In the September 2 IBIS Open Forum teleconferences a motion to hold a vote
to reaffirm EIASTD656B in the September 23 meeting was made, and passed
without objection. Reaffirmation of the standard as published was deemed
appropriate since no demand has been expressed as of yet for
standardization of newer IBIS specifications. The only requirement to
reaffirm the standard is a passing vote recorded in the Open Forum
minutes.
The motion anticipated for the scheduled voted in the September 23 IBIS
Open Forum teleconference would be to "Reaffirm SAE standard EIASTD656B".
IBIS members in good standing but unable to attend Friday, September 23,
may vote on the motion by email to IBIS Secretary Randy Wolff
(rrwolff@xxxxxxxxxx), "Yes" (to reaffirm), "No" (to not reaffirm), or
"abstain", until the roll call vote takes place. Please CC me. As always
we are hoping to "see" everyone in the teleconference!
