Regarding the following two statements in BIRD197.5-2,
"The Rx AMI_GetWave output waveform returned by the AMI model must be nominally
centered around zero Volts" and
"The High/Low Threshold of Rx AMI_GetWave output waveform returned by the AMI
model shall be zero Volts"
the NRZ eye is similar to the PAM center eye. In PAM4 we compare the center eye
waveform with the CenterThreshold parameter to detect the symbol level.
Similarly in the future for NRZ we could potentially introduce a threshold
parameter instead of using a fixed threshold of 0 V. In that regard, the first
statement is more consistent with the PAM4 center eye approach than the second
one is.
