Arpad,

If you recall, if the Tx is LTI both flows give the same answer. If the Tx
is not LTI, the 5.0 flow is wrong!

True, but I still see models without the AMI_Version parameter in the .ami
file, which means that they assume the v5.0 flow.

What if the channel has one of those models on one end and a
v5.1 or later model on the other end? This may happen very easily and the
spec should state what the EDA tool should do in this case. Is this a
valid combination to run a simulation?
If so which flow should be used? If not, should the EDA tool just issue
an error and stop?

Thanks,

Arpad

Arpad,

The 5.0 flow was broke - the 5.1 flow was, and is the only correct flow.

Hello Everyone,

I ran into a situation with an AMI model pair (Tx and Rx) where the two
models have a different AMI_Version value. Fortunately these are 5.1 and
6.0 which imply the same AMI flow. But I wonder what should the EDA tool
do if one model is v5.0 (implicitly) and another model is v5.1 or higher,
because the v5.0 AMI flow is different from the flow defined for v5.1 or
higher.

I don't recall anything in the specification that defines which flow
should be used in this case. Does anyone know what the EDA tool should do
in this case? Simulate with one or the other flow, or issue an error and
not simulate at all?

Enjoy your day!

Arpad
