The model is a linear model as, for example, most transmitter models are. One possibility is therefore to have the AMI_Init() function modify its incoming impulse response and then to use that modified impulse response when generating waveforms in time domain simulation. This situation and choice is very common.

2. Under what conditions might AMI_Init not exist?

Only when the model doesn't exist.

3. Is AMI_GetWave defined in any of the 5.1 BIRDs?

The AMI_GetWave function is defined in IBIS 5.0. The function signature and definition has remained unchanged, although there has been a lot of work to more clearly describe the flows in which the function is used. There has also been a clarification of the definition of the clock_times variable. There have been some changes proposed to implement a control back channel in time domain simulation. Others can tell you the current status of that work.

4. Is AMI_Init defined in any of the 5.1 BIRDs?

The AMI_Init() function is defined in IBIS 5.0. The function signature and definition have remained unchanged. Again, the work on flows improved the description of how this function is used.
