Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. No previous
minutes were reviewed (last meeting was August 26, 2016).
Numerous people noted issues with use of Skype for Business.
AR - Michael to arrange for a WebEx with SAE for future meetings.
Mike LaBonte observed that discussions of what to include in IBIS 6.2 and 7.0
discussion at Summit and elsewhere.
He also noted that the agenda needs to include his figure updates.
Bob Ross shared his list of operations needed for finalizing IBIS 6.2; the list
order provided is indeed the order necessary.
He noted that Section 10.8 of IBIS adds new parameters, which are proposed for
the Noise section. An additional Special Parameter section may be needed.
Many/most BIRDs are editorial only. A tree edit is needed to remove
inductance_matrix, etc., as they aren't subparameters anymore.
Some BIRDs are not yet approved, including:
187.3 - need to post and approve this (Michael Mirmak owns this)
181.1 - not complete and IBIS naming conventions are set by this, as
pointed out by Radek Biernacki
Michael thanked Bob and Radek for their summaries, and asked about the owner of
181.1; Mike LaBonte self-identified as the owner.
Bob added that he has identified 3-4 other locations in IBIS touched by the
conventions in 181.1.
Walter Katz noted that the original intent of IBIS 6.2 was addressing ground
and referencing, but the list goes beyond this. He has no objection to adding
more material to 6.2, but in particular noted:
Interconnect modeling (189) is not intended for 6.2
Re-driver flow (166) - will take a lot of time to prepare for inclusion
Backchannel (147.6) - Walter noted that this is scheduled for a vote in
March but may not involve large changes
Bob advocated that there be minimal changes in 6.2, particularly for parser
purchaser benefit.
Walter asked whether there is a meaningful difference between IBIS 6.2 and 7.0
at this point.
Arpad Muranyi noted that BIRD158.3 for Touchstone support should be included in
the release including INterconnect support, in order to fully include the new
Interconnect format.
Radek noted that BIRD147.6 is unlikely to have a significant parser or tool
impact.
Walter suggested making list of BIRDs unapproved and approved, and circulate it
for discussion at ATM and the Open Forum.
Then the Open Forum votes/discusses.
Bob advocated for a rigid rule that only BIRDs that have been approved be
implemented in Editorial work.
Walter replied that the approved BIRD list will satisfy this.
Mike suggested that the process has been to declare the next version number and
a slate of BIRDs to be included. Michael stated that he intended to make
motions at the Open Forum as the "sense of the Open Forum" to make 6.2 the next
release and to state a date cutoff for technical changes in 6.2.
Radek added that Bob's list is the slate, though some are agreed and not
approved.
Walter will move at the next Open Forum not to proceed with IBIS 6.2 and
instead move to 7.0. Bob disagreed.
Mike moved to re-convene the Editorial Task Group in two weeks regarding 6.2
(including any actions by ATM or the Open Forum). Walter seconded. No
objections were raised.
ARs
Mike - check 181.1 to decide whether his figures should be included there or
filed in a separate BIRD
Bob - distribute list of BIRDs and BIRD candidates (DONE)
Mike - send out an updated list of issues for resolution in 6.2 and
Michael - complete BIRD 187.3 to address Radek's concerns and provide to ATM
Next meeting will be March 17, as an IBIS Open Forum teleconference will take
place on March 10. Agenda topics to include a review of Mike's list of
technical issues as well as a review of BIRD181.1 with figures.
Mike moved to adjourn. Radek seconded. The meeting adjourned without
objection.
