I just wanted to give a little info on this website I found. It is called "No Soap Radio" All the songs are free to use for commercial products includeing video games. It is under a creative commons license. The songs I downloaded thru the torrent were 312, but the website says 349 are available. I am not sure if that means I downloaded the thing wrong or if the torrent needs to be updated or something... As for the music, I have been listening to the ones I did download and just like the front of the website suggests with loads of checkboxes for all sorts of genres, it seems to cover all the bases. I already found two that seemed fantasy oriented to me, and I am going to include them into the kobold dungeon I have almost finished with, complete with items, a plot, etc and so forth. The selections I have listened too are just so wide ranging. There was even some with vocals called ancient curse which I thought was very interesting. Other songs sounded like eighties or nineties video game music, and still others sounded like cyberpunk, which is cool since I plan on making a map for that at some point int he future. I have ben looking for this kind of thing for a while now, especially for everyone on the list to grab for their own maps and this is a good deal I think. Go listen and see. As a comparison, I was looking at royalty free paid music. The Blast Bay Studios music is excellent, but it was something like 500 dollars american. Other sites that handle sound effects as well have similar prices...so this is one site I don't think can be passed up. Thanks again to Jono for your help! I appreciate your help. al "The truth will set you free" Jesus Christ of Nazareth 33A.D. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jono Heaps To: ian-reeds-games@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, March 02, 2013 9:55 PM Subject: [ian-reeds-games] Re: free royalty free music No worries. Bit Comit will make a sound to indicate that the download is completed. Alternatively you can check by locating the start page tab in the bit comit window, pressing shift tab to get to the list view, selecting the task and pressing the application key. It'll give you a percentage. As for MuTorrent I'm not sure, but I imagine it wouldn't be difficult to work it out. The interface is pretty user friendly. I owe you one, grin. Right now I think it is downloading. I checked the folder and the songs have a .bc file extension after it, so I assume that means it is still downloading, right? How would I check to make sure it still was, or would it tell me? Will it tell me when it is done? Sorry, I never used torrents before. al "The truth will set you free" Jesus Christ of Nazareth 33A.D. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jono Heaps To: ian-reeds-games@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, March 02, 2013 8:36 PM Subject: [ian-reeds-games] Re: free royalty free music Hi there, To download .torrent files like the one featured on the sight in question you need something called a Bit Torrent Client. It's a program that allows you to join what you might call a collective of users who are uploading and downloading the particular file you want. There are a few Bit Torrent clients that are accessible with JAWS. My personal favourite is Bit Comit: http://www.bitcomet.com/ A lot of people also like µTorrent: http://www.utorrent.com/ Once you've chosen the client you want/installed it, you'll need to return to the free music website and download the .torrent file. It looks like there's a self-explanitory link on the page so you shouldn't have too many problems with that. You then need to open the downloaded file. Your selected client should automatically interact with the .torrent file and come up with a dialog box allowing you to choose where you would like to save the contents of the .torrent file. Good luck. Let me know how you get on. Jono You +1'd this publicly.
