ian I'd like a feature to upgrade the game from within the game stable and dev, so I

didn't have to download actual zip files.

Hi all,

I'm releasing Tactical Battle 1.13 dev 11.

It has these changes:
22 Made it so unit names used in escape victory conditions or death defeat conditions can match any unit regardless of team. 23 Fixed a bug where units with spaces in their names were not recognized in escape or death conditions.
24 Added the ability to download and install map packs in game.

Additionally I fixed the bug when you press escape after setting up a game in multiplayer.
I tried to fix the last issue that crashed the server and have restarted it.
I also added a bit more code to help the server handle packets that were not sent from a game client. You'll need this latest dev version to connect to the multiplayer server at all.

22 was a request by Richard and allows a pretty cool scenario where you are required to convert neutral units to your team via Craig's convert script and then get them to a certain location for the escape condition. Essentially it's a rescue mission. I hope it is ok that I shared that Richard. I think it's a creative use of Craig's script and just needed that small fix in the core engine.

I think the download map packs feature is pretty cool.
It even checks for updates.
So for instance, if I download Tomb Robber through the games interface and later choose download map packs again the game will check the size of the Tomb Robber zip file on the dropbox server and compare it with what the size was when I last downloaded it. If it's difference it will show up in the list again so you can download the fresh copy and it will overwrite the old one.
If it's not different it won't even show up.
The game only compares with a log it keeps of what it downloads, so if you copy map packs from a previous game version it won't know about them. The log is stored in Downloads.dat, so you could copy that from one game version to another if you don't want to re-download all the same map packs.
Hope that all made sense.

This new feature also makes it easy for me to add a new map pack that has just become stable without needing to release an entirely new version of the game engine.

I think down the road people may need to have 2 links for each map pack.
1 that works in the latest stable release of TB and another that gets to take advantage of the current dev features.
This won't matter until 1.13 stable is released though.
I may try to do that in the near future as it's been a while since a full release.

I'm going to try to continue to support multiplayer when I have time and it should become more stable over time. I'm not going to release it in 1.13 stable though, it will be for dev versions only, at least until 1.14. I feel it needs some more time to mature before I'm ready to hear all the complaints that come when it's released to the general public.

If you want your map pack added to the download map packs option just let me know and I can fix that without releasing a new version of TB.
For now I added all the maps that were in the last stable release.
