Cool, I will download the new one.
Unfortunately, I was never into the multiplayer aspect of TB, although I am
sure it is popular.
I can see this might be possible as a single player kind of thing too. That is
just my opinion though. I actually set a ai control flag on the player 1 units
to see how they all interact and it was a fun little battle, lol.

Thanks a lot for the sounds. I know TB is Ian's, it was a mistake after
reading your name so many times here :D I will correct it on user guide.

I updated the link, so you may want to download it again, and now it's
only the map folder. I believe the game works as of now, but there are
still many smoothing to do, like adjusting mana costs, Elemental Mages
seem to have too much power, I dunno. The map was designed for online
play, since combat conditions are too balanced for the AI to manage.
Even so, I tried to use the AI_ tags to make it testable on single player.

Now, my question about online playing. I never played online, for some
reason whenever I log in the game says I am the only one connected. I
would like to know if there's anything I need to setup to play spellcast
online other than putting the multiplayer tag on map settings and having
the Spellcast folder on both players map pack folder.

And sorry for my poor english.

By the way, Ian Reed is the creator of Tactical Battles. I just made a few
map packs for it. The credit for this fantastic program goes to him ahlone.

As for the sounds, that is perfectly fine to use sounds from the map packs I
have made. I honestly am hoping that this would get others into making map
packs, if they know sounds are available. In addition, many of us have sound
libraries and I am sure if you needed any sounds  for TB map packs  we can
get it for you. Well, I shouldn’t speak for the others, but I believe that is
the general feeling, hopefully.

Subject: [ian-reeds-games] Spellcast Map Pack - A couple bugs I couldn't fix

Hi, guys

Well, this is my very first attempt at creating something for TB. The
idea here is of a board game where you have to destroy your opponent's
flag in order to win. The User's Guide explains the theme, story and
concept of the map, so I'll only make a brief statement that it's a
battle arena between teams of different kinds of mages.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15764913/Spellcast.rar

The sound design is very poor in my opinion, but it's the best I could
do in my spare time. I used mostly creative commons sounds, but I must
confess that some are trimmed pieces of other maps' sounds, like Age of
Warlords and Starship Battles, with some effects applied. Hope it
doesn't offend any map creators.

So, the map has two bugs I can't fix. Each team starts with a Team
Source that can summon up to 4 mages in combat. The source is the team
flag, and the victory condition is destroying the opponent's team
source. Well, as you can hear when launching the map, the game insists
that there is no such unit as Team Source. Also, Team Source.txt in
units folder has the "sound=teamsource.mp3" and there's a teamsource.mp3
inside the sounds folder, but even so the game won't play the sound.

The game still needs some tuning, I hope these bugs can be fixed so I
can start playtesting it online to smooth things up. There is only one
map because the first idea is to create a board game for online duels,
but if people likes it I may think of new and more complex maps. And
yes, the Arena's Crowd Protection Grid has no purpose except of making a
cheering border on the arena, sorry if that annoys anybody.

PS: I just noticed the User's Guide says TB was created by Allan Reed,
which might be some sort of amalgam between Ian and Allan Thompson, lol
:D I will correct that.

PS2: It just occurred me that I could have sent just the map folder
instead of the whole TB folder. Sorry, it's the hour in Brazil, won't
happen again.
