Really, you should send this in another e-mail with an appropriate subject, as it's not related. But...

I'd purely be guessing. I can't make my game crash in that way, so I can't analyze it to see what's wrong.

Chances are there's a leak somewhere. But being unable to replicate, I don't know. If the problem occurs even when there are less and less units on the map, then maybe things aren't being cleaned up properly. If it only happens as more and more things go onto the map, then it's unlikely to be a leak, but sheer weight of memory.

I can do several things that might make things a lot more lean, and they'll be coming in the next release. But I have no idea if they'll help or not.

Another thing. You should ask yourselves the question: Who really wants to sit down and move 500 units around for just one turn? No mainstream games force players to do this. Civilization you'd typically have about 50 to 100 units for a large empire plus all your cities, some even let you stack 3 units into an army unit and control it as one. That's where my stacking script idea came from. C&C, again, your units wouldn't survive long enough normally for you to have hundreds, and if you got close, chances are your enemies wouldn't survive. I remember reading in the games .ini file (if you start modding the original Red Alert game) that the absolute max for an entire map was 500 units. Computer memory has come on since then but the playability aspect still remains. Especially if you want to have your map pack playable online. I'm not saying don't do this, but I'm advising that if mainstream game developers don't think it's a good idea, there's probably a reason.

I'll  leave that there.

Wow, sounds cool. And it would be realy great if the AI could do all the
actions that the player can do as well. If it could nab and eat

example, that would make it a bit more challenging if you fight

Okay. I
don't know if there has to be a serious story in each scenario, but the
Intros, endings and descriptions would add more variation to the maps. I
think no idea is to crazy for the map pack, we need crazy map packs.

Hi,
Yeah, I guess the story telling is needed for this one. I was expecting
that.
I do have bazooks, they are with one of the military guys I think. I will
have to make sure.

You mean you want sound file dialog instead of just the text? I will be
honest, starship battles was like that because I was unable to write such
long intros at the time it was made. Thus the sound files. I was told
that
they were annoying because they played slow compared to what people
are used
to.
I will have to hink about that too.
I found some neat sounds that will hopefully be  fun. I am seriously
thinking of a zoo...but that might just get too crazy...

Yeah, the descriptions and Intros and such should be there. Making
kind of a
story or missions should work, especially if they are as text in the
intros,
like in the star ship battle maps. That would be cool.

I like the fact that you could had the descriptions.
I liked the defence both monster and robot and human and others where you
yourself were on the rampage.
I also think with the arena maps, you can a description for intro and
other
things.
Ie, you are fighting for the giant/ monster/ robot master title, you are
fighting the current champ and there is a million dollars at steak,
win this
you make the big ligues, don't and its back to working at the local mc
donnalds or something.
Right now I find the fact that the defeat/ victorius messages are to
breef.
I'd like the arena maps to have a story.
Say you either start in a local garrage, fast food joint, etc, you have
little cash, you decide to go into giant training, etc, maybe make the
world
a post apocaliptic world after the events of rampage v1, when the
monsters/
robots invaded and the like if you want.
Anyway progress up through ranks as you go, fighting harder and harder
apponents, not sure how much of this you can go and do in tb engine
but what
ever.
Eventually you make it to the fial, and beat the big guy.
And win.
Ofcause you will have rivals and well if he beats you he may just let his
giant whatever kill you slowly and take your cash, so if you win, he
will be
your personal dishwasher or something.
My point is that there really needs to be a story and such to the arena
maps.
There should in theory be some sort of story to the invasion maps to be
honest as well as the lets muck round with stuff but I have no idea
what the
limits of the engine are.
I am no programmer but I have always liked the old games like one must
fall
and like the stories behind all the robot battle and monster games,
rivals,
gangs, plot twists.
The battle engine is a bit limited but still I'd like things to get
interesting.
Allan I think its fare to say you are becoming the battle master,
stretching
the limits of the engine to well who knows.
Hardly a map has gone past bar one or 2 where you havn't excelled at
things.
