=20 As computers become more and more susceptible to bugs, virus attacks andot= her threats, the publishers of Softw= areDaily[1] and HardwareDaily[2]h= ave started a new blog, c= omputerdisasters.blogspot.com[3]. We are at present working on= a solution for the hundreds of users who have been affected by problems ar= ising from attempting to install the Internet Explorer 7 beta. This often re= moves functionality from a wide range of programs, which are looking for tw= o new DLLs that the IE7 install should have placed in the Windows/system 32= directory. We have found a source for these files and at the pr= esent stage of our quest for a solution we have found that downloading them= remedies some (but not all) of the problems. We have provided Microsoft wit= h details of these files and where they may be found, but they have refused= to distribute this information, since IE7 is in beta and they do not provi= de technical supportfor beta products. However, a check with Go= ogle reveals the unprecedented extent of the problems arising from this bet= a, and if Microsoft will not make solutions available, then we must remedy = that omission. Hence this new blog. Please let us know of any di= sasters you have suffered - and, hopefully, of any solutions you have found= . You can post them as comments to postings on this blog, or send them by e= mail to disasters@blueyonder.= co.uk[4]. We regret that we cannot enter into correspondence a= bout any such postings which will be published "as is", with no guarantee o= f their veracity. In this, as in all things regarding computers, extreme cau= tion is recommended. -- Post= ed by Karl to HardwareDaily[5] at 8/01/2006 08:44:00 AM= --- Links --- 1 3D"http://swdly@xxxxxxxxxxxx/"; 2 3D"http://hwdly.blogspot.com/"; 3 3D"http://computerdisasters.blogspot.com"; 4 3D"mailto:disasters@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"; 5 3D"http://hwdly.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_hwdly_archive=
