[huskerlug] Submitting Changes to Projects

I have been working with Sabayon Linux for a couple of weeks and I have
had a problem with my volume/play/stop buttons not working properly.
One of the problems was Kmilo, but in addition, the keys were not mapped
correctly. After looking for a while, I found out that I had to modify
the xkb configuration files and add the appropriate key mappings.

I did that and it works great now. But then I thought, if I submit the
changes to the appropriate people they will become a permanent part of
xkb and if I have to reinstall in the future, I will not have to
manually modify the files again. Also, I can get additional mapping for
laptops and submit those later too.

Has anyone on the list submitted changes to projects before? Since I am
not an active developer, can I submit? What it usually the proper
procedure? Any other suggestions. Thanks.
