For those of you running linux and wondering if road runner will work. Yes it will. But the cable modem locks onto the MAC address of your NIC (network interface card). When I setup my RR service it was in windows because I didn't know how huffy the installer would get if I tried it in linux. I used my eepro100 card. Later when I tried to install a firewall using a ne2000 card I could not get it to work. The cable modem would not allow a dhcp request through that didn't come from the NIC with the MAC address that it had in memory. They do this so you don't put 2 machines on your cable modem and steal all their IP addresses. It two me a few days of tinkering to figure this out. To reset the cable modem you need to shut it off for about 3 minutes then plug it back in and it should work with what ever NIC you have connected to it. To switch NICs again you need to make sure reset the cable modem. Eric __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
