All of this makes sense! How about I send them an email this weekend
requesting they submit by Tuesday afternoon (August 29). Is that soon
enough? How
Here’s what I’ve seen so far, that helped me arrive at that decision. Of the
people that have responded, we have a majority of people that are in favor
of granting a new (soon) deadline:
Sue: Yes
Brian: Yes
Jacoby: No preference
Lukas: Yes
Lena: Unknown

I generally lean toward not granting extensions. On the other hand, they
are the only such request, so it wouldn't affect our process that much.
Please give them a new due date that is firm and really soon.

Upon reflection, I think an extension would not be a bad thing. If we have
a close choice between them and another org., then I think we should
consider the deadline issue.

I REALLY wanted them to apply, but I am down for whichever decision the

Asunto: Re: Extended RFP Deadline
Dear all,
We were in the middle of crucial work in our organization and were not
able to fill up the form. We are in a place in which because of
capacity we have often times to make decisions of doing the work or
building capacity. In this case the work couldn't wait.
Would it be possible to turn in a differed proposal? Our organization
does immigration and education justice within the Latino community and
it's led by undocumented immigrants and DACA holders.
Kind Regards

Hello,
The deadline for the First Universalist Holiday Giving Program
Application/RFP has been extended to August 15, 2017. You can fill out
an application/proposal here at:
https://goo.gl/forms/omSfJ78IdynMiDji2.
Please consider applying for this opportunity to receive up to $60,000
to fund your non-profit organization's programs that are committed to
furthering racial equity.
Should you have any questions about the application process, please
feel free to follow-up with any questions.
A quick reminder of what the First Universalist Holiday Giving Program
is:
Every other year, First Universalist Church encourages the entire
congregation of First Universalist Church to re-imagine the winter
holidays and how we can best practice our faith during a time that is
often filled with over consumption and excess. We invite our members
and friends to reduce their holiday spending by 50% and to give the
money they save to the "Holiday Giving Project." Each year, we select
a recipient of the funds that aligns with our values. We prioritize
organizations that have a clear racial justice focus, and that offer
meaningful ways for members of the church to engage with the
organization (we recognize this varies, based on the organization.)
One of the ways we continue to respond to the challenging times we
find ourselves in is by living our values out loud. The Holiday Giving
Program is one of those ways, as we practice generosity, and deeper
engagement with and support of those working for justice in our
community. We anticipate the possibility of raising up to $60,000,
based on past year's experience, but it may be less.
Best Wishes,
Jacoby Daniels
