[hipl-users] hipl installation problem

Hello,
While trying to install HIPL in a Ubuntu 8.10 distribution over VMware
player, I faced several problems. I downloaded the nightly tarball and then
extracted and ran the ./autogen.sh. Then while trying to find the
./configure file, there was an error and suggestion to install many new
packages. After installing all the packages, I can teh autogen again and
this time the configure file was found; i ran "./configure && make install"
but again the installation ended with the error:
/usr/bin/install: cannot create regular file
`/usr/local/lib/libinet6.so.0.0.0': Permission denied
make[3]: *** [install-libLTLIBRARIES] Error 1
make[2]: *** [install-am] Error 2
make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
I ran using sudo right but still it shows this error. Any help would be
appreciated. The documentation is not extensive enough for anyone to start
it with.
