Hi,

you don't have dnsproxy running and the installation doesn't like it. There are some improvements on this on version you're trying to install but you need to have it first :(

Temporary work around:

1. edit /etc/init.d/hipdnsproxy
2. add "exit 0" to the beginning of stop_hipd() function
3. install the new version
4. remove the "exit 0" from /etc/init.d/hipdnsproxy

I hope it works for you too. Let us know if you have further troubles, thanks.

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had a problem updating hipl to the new version 1.0.4-31, I've been able to update all packages except hipl-dnsproxy according to the following error:

Preparing to replace hipl-dnsproxy 1.0.4-25 (using .../hipl-dnsproxy_1.0.4-31_i386.deb) ... Stopping hip dnsproxydpkg: warning - old pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
dpkg - trying script from the new package instead ...
Stopping hip dnsproxydpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/hipl-dnsproxy_1.0.4-31_i386.deb (--unpack):
subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
update-rc.d: warning: /etc/init.d/hipdnsproxy missing LSB information
update-rc.d: see <http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts>
update-rc.d: warning: multiuser is deprecated; specify runlevels manually
System startup links for /etc/init.d/hipdnsproxy already exist.
hip dns proxy starts in a minute
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/hipl-dnsproxy_1.0.4-31_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I'm currently using Ubuntu Jaunty J and linux kernel 2.6.28-11-generic.

I'll keep looking for the reason, I'll appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks and have a nice day everyone
