Thank you for your interest! I sent out the below email to the community a
few weeks back and the attached is info we have to-date. I have NOT given
up hope. I will reach out again in the spring to see where google fiber is
with construction and if they still intend to service our area. I will try
to get any promising dates and keep everyone posted. Just so you know even
if we get construction we still have to get 70 units out of 107 to allow
installation into their homes. Those units have to be in the same building
for installation to work.
After speaking with Google Fiber Construction and sales teams, I learned
the infrastructure is not in place for us to have service at this time.
Google Fiber plans to complete the construction but the date of completion
is unknown. Once the construction is completed and we have service in our
area we can begin fiber installation. However, the installation process is
the same as it was in 2016. It would require fiber to be installed through
the attics of each unit. Thus requiring 70 units to permit installation. If
one unit refuses installation, then that building is uninstallable.
Attached are the updated information that has been gathered over the last 4
years. I am on Google Fiber email notifications list and I will re-connect
with Google Fiber in April to learn of any new developments.

The problem was that Google was way too demanding with how they wanted
to install the product. They would only work on one building at a time,
and everyone in the building would need to be home for the same 1-2 days as
they went from attic to attic in sequential order. If a unit in the middle
of the building refused to participate or just didn't show up, then half of
the building just wouldn't get wired.
Ultimately, we got in touch with over 80 interested units, but with
where they were located, it would only allow access to get 40-50 units
wired. This was not enough for Google to be interested in our complex.
We basically gave up on the project and decided to wait for 5G. I'm
expecting that to happen sometime this year. We will then have one or more
alternatives to Comcast/Xfinity internet.
Of course, if anyone would like to spearhead getting Google Fiber
installed in our neighborhood, then I can give them the project documents
and they can try to resurrect the project. Perhaps the technology has
improved, and Google has found a better way to get our units wired, without
requiring everyone in a building to be at home at the same date and time.
