To close the loop on this, Conex did come by sometime after 3PM on
Friday.
The junk was picked up Friday morning. The dumpster is not yet
overflowing and should hopefully last us until Monday's pickup.
Also, we will really need to focus on trash expenses when we're setting
next year's budget. I don't feel like I have solid numbers to know how
much we need to budget for trash hauling. Clara, do you have any more
detailed information that you can share on our 2017 vs 2018 trash
expenses? I'm willing to review individual invoices going all the way
back to January 2017 and put them into a spreadsheet, so that we have a
better handle on how much we're spending. One example is that we pay
waste management $1,500 in a given month. Is that for one pickup or two
pickups, etc?
Also, our 2014 trash pickup budget was $18,000 per year, and it was
increased to $19,000 per year in 2015. I don't have numbers readily
available for 2016 and 2017. Our budget was reduced to $11,500 for this
year. Perhaps the logic was that we were previously paying $900 a month
to rent the compactor. In the end, we are paying more money than
before. This is not due to recycling or the junk area, as these
expenses are relatively small compared to trash hauling.
