When a carrier arrives with a delivery, there will likely be multiple
packages.  These can be stored temporarily at the front gate. The person
at the front gate can email this list with unit numbers that have
received packages.  At the end of the shift, remaining packages can be
carried to the mailbox area.  Packages over 30 pounds should probably be
left with the carrier to be redelivered the next day; it just isn't safe
to carry something heavy while trying to walk on a narrow strip with the
person's view of their feet being blocked (we can make exceptions for
the 100 and 800 buildings).  In the unlikely event that a large shipment
of small boxes is delivered, please let me know, and I can get a hand
truck and assist.  The hand truck is too wide to be used on the cement
curb, but it can be used between the front gate and mailbox area.
Heather, thanks for volunteering your umbrella.  While the road closes
at 9AM, we won't block the gates until contractors have had time to
place their equipment and give the OK to block the gates.  At that time,
we can block the gates and place the umbrella and chairs.  I would
recommend leaving your umbrella in the pool area overnight, but we can
move it in the morning.
Thanks,
Alex

Hi all!
This is a great and thoughtful idea. Only thing I would be concerned about is what if people ordered larger, heavier Or fragile items. Unless there is some sort of cart and people are ok with the risk of damage in commute to their house, this could be a potential issue.

If the goal is to collect all deliveries, 9AM - 7PM would be good (UPS gets here late). If a pool umbrella is easy to move, it could be used for shade. I will be out walking around before 9AM to make sure the neighborhood is ready for the project to begin. I'll see if I can get an umbrella and chairs out there.

Hi Heather,

If neighbors are willing to volunteer to do this, please do.  I'm sure everyone

We've been discussing this type of issue in our household.  With the
high number of deliveries that we are all having these days - it will
just be impossible to not get deliveries for an entire day.  I have
been thinking about having a people volunteer to sit in front of the
gate in shifts (we would volunteer to cover one) and interact with
delivery drivers as they arrive.  We could take the deliveries and
send a communication out to our community to alert so the household
could come out and retrieve their items.  Or, just deposit the items
in the mail area.  If y'all think this would be worthwhile and
effective, we're happy to take a shift for a few hours.  My husband is
furloughed and I can just drop a hot spot and work on my laptop.

I got an email late last night that a package I was expecting to
be delivered today from Amazon would be delayed until Monday. Of
course there was no way to reach a living person so I was only able to
send a request back asking for the delivery to be delayed till
Tuesday. So far, I haven't gotten a reply and  I don't have much hope

Anyone have a suggestion how to prevent this delivery? Amazon
apparently has access to the complex without having to call the
recipient to let them in so I don't think I'll be able to refuse them
entry.
