Comcast has not been the fastest, but has been consistent for being available.
If you are going to order your own cable modem make sure it is one that
Comcast supports and also DOCSIS 3.1 capable.
AT&T has slower speed, but package offerings are the same as Comcast.
Unknown on the Google Fiber status. Guess it’s dead.
Future of 5G wireless. Maybe a little more than 2+ years before rolled out in
our region. Test markets are just getting under way.

To answer your original question, you may have already found the best
alternative to Comcast. I will tell you that I had ADSL a while back
through the phone company, and it too had issues with not delivering its
full bandwidth. In the end, Comcast won my business, because it was
cheaper and faster (and actually more reliable).
In the future (1-2 years from now), Verizon and other cell phone
carriers are planning to offer home internet service in our neighborhood
via fixed 5G technology. When you sign up, they'll mail you a device,
and no professional installation should be necessary. This is the
competing technology to Fiber to the Home (i.e. Google Fiber). It
should easily be able to provide gigabit speed, and the cost should be
competitive. Verizon is currently conducting a limited trial in
Atlanta.

Hello neighbors,
I'm wondering if anyone is currently to subscribed with any internet
provider other than Comcast? I've had to call them about 10-15 times over
the past week to have internet issues resolved and am quite tired of
dealing with them.
The only other available option that I've found was AT&T but the highest
internet speed that they offer our complex is 3 mbps, which, if anyone
knows anything about internet, is painfully slow.
Any advice would be appreciated!
