A few updates on the compactor, recycling area, and open top dumpster:
1. I previously reported that to operate the compactor, you would need
to press on the key. The key was replaced a couple of weeks ago with a
black button. Simply press the black button to operate the compactor if
necessary.
2. This morning, Marny reported that pressing the black button did not
start the compactor. I did some investigating, and found that someone
had left the red emergency stop button pushed in. I gently pulled back
on the red emergency stop button, and then the black button started the
compactor.
3. We are still waiting on a rubber flange to be installed in the
compactor. This should eliminate the daylight that we see between the
chute and the compactor. This will also ensure that all trash makes it
into the compactor. As a reminder, all trash should be placed in trash
bags.
4. The recycling area has been pressure washed.
5. During the compactor replacement, some people placed leaky trash into
the recycling bins. We think that the bins may need to be wiped out or
replaced (whatever is easier to do). CMA will take the appropriate
action.
6. The dirty bins are attracting rodents. CMA will work with the vendor
to make sure that the rodent bait stations are stocked.
7. We see that the open top dumpster is still present across from
Hilliard St. CMA will work with Waste Management to make sure it is
removed.
