So good to heat Tony, I and my family were very upset when it so sadly closed.
My mum felt Leonard Cheshire had over reached his finances by opening more
homes in other countries and the gated community that replaced it seemed
inappropriate,
but I only recently discovered the memorial garden and I must say it is a sort
of compensation. I was able to play tennis at le Court sometimes with a friend
from school but most of all the summer fetes were the high spot of our year.

Yes. Ten of the happiest years of my life spent there. After Snowy’s second
marriage, he moved into Laundry Cottage, just up from North Lodge, where both
GC and his daughter, and even
I had lived at one time. It was a sad day when Le Court closed in a mire of
controversy.

Yes Tony, Le Court, a lovely Leonard Cheshire home at Empshott. We lived at the
North Lodge of the driveway leading to it for several years and went to their
lovely summer fetes and there is now a particularly lovely memorial garden in
what
would have been the grounds of Le Court.

Thanks. Just to be clear it’s Le [one e] Court - though pronounced ‘Lee’. And
Snowy’s surname is Harding. 😊

Thanks Tony,
Always great to know more about some of the photographs we’re indexing.
With a name like that and the photographer that I think wrote the entry it’s
not surprising it’s unreadable!

Hi Karen
I could not read the original either – to be honest it can be just as
unreadable, however I have been able to get information from the following
source as I also halo the Leonard Cheshire Archive:
The Cheshire Smile – Summer 1976 (a quarterly magazine)
“Le Court
Mr Ron
Stizaker the proprietor of The Red Lion at Chalton and Mr Steve Borrowunder
took a five-day sponsored walk from Beachy Head to Chaltonin April. All the
money raised will be put to the renovation of the lift. We wished them good
weather, strong legs and
unblistered feet.”
Snowy is no longer wwiht us but I thought you all might like to see a picture
of him (attached)… Both he and his sister, Rose, were at Le Court. He was an
EastEnder and spent his early childhood (pre-National Health
Service) scooting round the streets on a grubby wheeled board. He was not
expected to live beyond his teens, but turned out to one of the longest living
people ever to have muscular dystrophy.
I could tell you many stories of Snowy!
Tony

Good morning... Hope you're all keeping well.
Got a few items that I can't decipher but I'm sure you'll be able to help.. And
incidentally thank you all for your help with previous requests.
Cricket Wrecclesham II vs Whitehill II but is that Miller Lane do you think?
Frensham WI at Frensham ?. Market? But looking at dogs....
Lee Court Ron Stingaker Snowy Hardware ??? Snowy??
And lastly, a question. If a few negatives have no date would it be appropriate
to just add the month and year so there's something to use as a search field?
Thanks, Karen
