The Front Ends
This part is essentially a down-converter from the signal frequency down to
baseband and vice versa. The baseband is made up of two signals, the
in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) elements, these are created by having two
mixers in each leg and two local oscillator signals, 90? apart. The usable
bandwidth is set by the sampling rate of the CODEC. The same hardware design
may be used for both the Hilbert and Weaver methods of modulation and/or
demodulation.
