It depends. Your GUI app will be starting the Terminal app in a new process.
The GUI needs to pass a bunch of parameters to the Terminal app, which is
easy. But after the Terminal app is done (or maybe even while it is running)
your GUI app needs a way to read its output.

In the case of TrackerGrep, the grep output is redirected to a temporary
file. TrackerGrep reads the contents of this temp file and displays them in
its window. This is a simple approach and it works well. But whether this is
possible or not depends on the Terminal app in question.
