A number of different reasons. Like François said, webmasters and
checking their web pages. I personally use 4 workspaces. The first 3
run at 1152x864x32, but the last one is 640x480 so that I can check
layout under low resolution or a color depth other than 32-bit. Most
regular users probably won't ever use it, but quite a few power users
will.
