Well... I guess forwarding this email is even better than doing an
executive sumary of our status. :) Daniel, note that the update I just
sent you is not up to date anymore as index removal is working. :)

Almost there, folks. :)

Subject: [openbfs-develop] Another status update

I've just implemented bfs_rename(), and bfs_remove_index() - the former
still has to be completed as it doesn't check yet if the target file
does already exist, but anything else does work (I am not yet sure what
exactly happens with directories and the like, but I will find out).

Besides journaling, live-queries, and some other more subtle stuff, we
now have a full and working BFS replacement!

I am sure there are many small issues like a not updated last modified
time, not respected permissions, etc. - these don't harm your data, but
may be big security holes, or could produce problems of all kind. We
need to find these and fix them. Especially interesting are tests where
you aren't the root user, as I haven't checked that at all yet.

That it does work for me doesn't mean you should test it with data that
you are still going to need - at least I don't do this at the current
stage, so don't blame me, you've been warned :-)

Adios...
   Axel.
