To the community, I've been considering the creation of an InstantMessenger for BeOS for a while now, but was just recently pointed to the im_kit. After checking it out, and having a reasonably hard time getting it to go on BeOSMAX, I decided to just bite the bullet and attempt to push it into the checked-out version of the Haiku source tree that I have locally. So far, I've massaged the main libraries into the tree and they're Jam'ing nicely... I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts on this, and whether or not my initial idea of having it as a 'core component/kit' in the Haiku tree is viable? I imagine the paradigm of IM is not really considered 'core', but having such functionality being built straight into the system (and being maintainable) would be a fantastic advantage over most other offerings; and I love the way the im_kit integrates. Anyway, I suppose I'd just love some clarification on whether my efforts are legal? (licensing-wise; I've also had to throw the latest openssl in the /libs dir) and whether or not the authorities think I should continue? I suppose the other option is to finish this, make it work, then extract it back out and make it a separate download. Thanks, Steven. _________________________________________________________________ Discover the new Windows Vista http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=windows+vista&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE
