In my experience, supporting Marvell, NVIDIA, SIS, VIA Rhine, Realtek
and Intel PRO would have us mostly covered as far as modern hardware
goes.

For legacy hardware, add 3com 3c59x, DEC Tulip and the ever-present
NE2K to the mix.

(This is about ethernet chipsets only; of course, once wifi enters the
game, things get real ugly real fast :P)
