Yeah. In my personal experience, using an external disk with
the Mac mini, (G4), the firewire (400) interface beats USB 2.0
by lots. With firewire it mounts/unmounts faster, and the disk
spins down when unmounted. Using the same disk with USB
feels slow and uncivilized in comparison.
