It should. However, nobody has written such a useful module yet.

It's not a problem, AC97 is not that complicated. But we currently
don't have a useful driver API that provides all the functions to fully
support the AC97 features.
The multiaudio api could provide them, but Be seems to have decided
to document, but not imlement them.
