Who are "We"? The only target I see specified for OBOS R1 is to
re-create R5. I dont see "provide a complete desktop OS to rival
Windows" anywhere.

That's great. Are you volunteering to spend every waking moment and
every last one of your hard earned dollars on OBOS development?
Because that's what is needed to change "everything" if we still want R1
to ship in the foreseeable future.
We're not talking about a project with a massive amount of developers
here, it is not possible to do everything better in R1 unless we're ok
with it not shipping until the next millenium.
