According to Haikuware [1], it should work.
I installed Haiku via VMware, since the machine doesn't have a CD drive. Is it possible that re-installing via USB would fix the problem?

You could have corrupted data from doing so. Maybe a clean format of the partition and a clean install from a cd rom or usb would work better.
