I can't speak for Haiku, but I think it should be definitely possible
replace inodes ID by hashes that identify paths on the filesystem, and
a very similar result but without the drawback of compromising the OS
security. At this point, 2+2=4 and it is obvious this approach is
if we think it'd be put into an index/metadata server.
