ok trying to paraphrase... 1. each library must have its own copy of its copyright/license/disclaimer.
Yes, I think so.
2. within that library, if there's multiple versions of the same license, (eg, different copyright holder, acknowledgment quote, or license clauses) include all versions.
Hmm, I can't believe that we have to acknowledge every copyright holder in every source file. I'll ask for legal advice at SoftwareFreedom and then get back to you. For now, I think it's sufficient to collect copyrights of complete products instead of individual files.
On a side note, are there any plans to somehow automate the process of gathering copyright notices in the future? Something like adding tags of some sort to the source code, which could then be used to parse and generate copyright documentation? or creating LIBRARY.copyright files inside each library directory eg, src/libs/crypt/md4.copyright , md5.copyright
One of our devs suggested something like that, but we didn't agree on anything. It could be easier to collect all copyrights in one single file. Bye, Waldemar Kornewald
