I think you are going to find examples more akin to Haiku in other open
source OS projects. Ubuntu has a pretty solid trademark policy, and so
does Fedora (although probably a little bit overdone):

These could point you to the types of scenarios that Haiku might face as
it relates to trademarks and derivatives, and how they can be addressed.
