Without knowing the issue on the Palm deal, what I'd suggest is we can work first on things that we know we will have to strip anyway. I think mainly about the bootloader, I heard that it was licenced. I still don't know why they didn't stick to LILO... (maybe to be able to boot from a windows partition...) So we can either try to: - modify the NewOS bootloader so it can boot the real BeOS kernel and see the issues, - write one from scratch :-( , - maybe we could write an add-on for GRUB, which already has lots of features, I heard. This thing will have to be done in either case (the deal concludes or not), so why not beggining from that ? Anyone has ideas on things we know are licenced and has to be striped out anyway ?
