This driver does not have a real maintainer anymore.

The problem likely is the automatic monitor identification and signal 
routing. Somewhere it might make the assumption that laptops can only 
have one digital connector.
Without the hardware at hand, or a good understanding of ATI Radeons, 
it's pretty tough work on it, though.
