Had BeOS turned wildly successful internationally we might 
have seen Be dropping the "the".

Some languages apparently don't even have definite article.

Swedish has, I think, four forms of -postfix- definite article,
which, I think, is sometimes hard to apply to foreign trademarks
and loanwords which have not yet found an acceptable Swedish form.

But "BeOS" is a indivisable trademark IMO, and does not need a
definite article. Myself I pronounce it Be-Oss, rather than 
Bee-Oh-Ess, even though both forms seem equally good to me in
Swedish.

Not that this should matter much to Haiku. :}
