FTP server should be running by default. Much cooler would be Ingo's net_fs, but even if it were adopted to the new FS interface, there isn't a really smooth integration for it yet. I mean some general management of network volumes.

(Getting back to the original idea of this thread...)
Years ago, there was a ftp file system for BeOS that would allow remote ftp servers to be mounted like any other drive, and GNOME does this currently, but personally I would love to see something like this net_fs or something BeOS/Haiku specific. Ideally, I think it should be something that supports Bonjour or some other network resource discovery protocol for automatically determining what can be mounted, and support for extended attributes, querying, and preferably some authentication/security as well.

I know I stated a few minutes ago that solutions don't need to be over-engineered, and this email of my may contradict that, but I think this would represent a mature BeOS/Haiku implementation of this sort of service.
