I have created a list of common PCI, PCIe and USB video capture devices
This took me far longer than I originally intended, but I have learnt much
about video capture devices in this time and the resource should be quite
helpful for not only Haiku but other projects as well.
I am hoping that developers and contributers who are subscribed to this
mailing list will add their name next to the devices that they own. This
way we can find out which devices have the most owners and the most testers
for any potential drivers.
The main page lists PCI, PCIe and USB bridge chipsets, clicking on one will
take you to the page for the chipset designer and will jump to the family of
interface bridges that your chipset belongs to. From there it will list the
video capture devices and the chipset of the interface bridge, which are
the two main pieces of information needed.
Another two details that will come in handy for driver development of DVB/ATSC
capable devices are the tuner box and the main device demodulator(s),
however I have only added this extra information to the page for Brooktree
based devices as it is quite time consuming. The tuner and demodulator
information for other chipsets could be filled in by future GCI students
doing research tasks.
